The Complete Dictionary of Prime Time Network and Cable TV Shows, byTim Brooks and Earle Marsh (Random House), is very valuable among printsources.Its eighth edition was on the stands in 2003.It lists most prime-timeseries, the characters and the actors who played them, a description of the plot,the dates the series aired, and the authors observations of the series.Alex Mc-Neil s Total Television (Penguin Books) is a similar book that also mentionsspecials.Both books list top-rated and award-winning shows.Donald Bogle is the most published historian in African-American televisionand film.His book Primetime Blues: African Americans on Network Televisionwas published (Farrar, Straus & Giroux) in 2001
